Learjet 40 For Sale
The Bombardier Learjet 40 is a light business jet that entered service in 2004 as a shortened derivative of the Learjet 45. Designed to compete in the light jet segment while retaining the Learjet brand's reputation for speed, the Learjet 40 offers the fastest cruise speed in its class. Production ended in 2013, with the Learjet 40XR variant offering improved hot and high performance.
Powered by two Honeywell TFE731-20AR engines, each producing 3,500 pounds of thrust, the Learjet 40 cruises at 464 knots with a range of 1,826 nautical miles. The cabin seats up to seven passengers and features a fully enclosed lavatory. The aircraft is certified for single pilot operation, broadening its appeal to owner operators who do not wish to employ a full crew.
Performance and Design
The Learjet 40 retains the distinctive swept wing and T-tail configuration that has defined the Learjet brand since the 1960s. Its speed advantage over competitors such as the Hawker 400XP and Cessna CJ series is notable, cruising 15 to 20 knots faster than most rivals. The Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics provide a modern cockpit with four large format displays, and the 40XR variant adds higher maximum takeoff weight and improved climb performance in hot conditions.
The Learjet 40's relatively compact cabin is narrower than some competitors, but the aircraft compensates with superior speed and range performance, making it particularly well suited to time sensitive point to point operations.
