The Bombardier Global Express is an ultra long range, large cabin business jet that entered service in 1999. Manufactured in Toronto, Canada, it was designed from the outset for nonstop intercontinental travel and established a new category in business aviation. The type has evolved through the Global Express XRS (2005), Global 6000 (2012), and Global 6500 (2019) variants.
The original Global Express is powered by two Rolls Royce BR710A1-10 engines, each producing 14,750 pounds of thrust, delivering a range of 6,150 nautical miles. The cabin measures 48 feet 5 inches long, 8 feet 2 inches wide, and 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a flat floor throughout. It typically accommodates 13 to 19 passengers in three cabin zones with a full galley and dedicated crew rest area.
Operational Capabilities
The Global Express cruises at Mach 0.85 with a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.89. It can fly nonstop from London to Los Angeles, New York to Tokyo, or Dubai to Washington. The aircraft features the Bombardier Vision flight deck on later models, with earlier examples equipped with the Honeywell Primus 2000XP suite. Many earlier aircraft have been retrofitted with modern avionics and connectivity upgrades that bring them close to current production standards.
The Global Express and its derivatives are the backbone of many international charter and corporate operations. The type is particularly valued by operators in Europe and the Middle East who require direct, nonstop connections to destinations across North America and Asia.
