The Gulfstream G500 is a large cabin, long range business jet manufactured by Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, Georgia. Entering service in 2018, it replaced the Gulfstream G450 and introduced a new generation of Gulfstream technology including fly by wire flight controls, the Symmetry Flight Deck, and a redesigned fuselage with the widest cabin in its class.
Powered by two Pratt and Whitney Canada PW814GA engines, each producing 15,144 pounds of thrust, the G500 has a range of 5,200 nautical miles at Mach 0.85. The cabin measures 41 feet 6 inches long, 7 feet 7 inches wide, and 6 feet 2 inches tall, typically seating 13 to 19 passengers. The cabin features up to four living areas with panoramic oval windows that are the largest in the industry.
Technology and Performance
The G500's Symmetry Flight Deck features ten touchscreen displays, active control sidesticks, and the most advanced avionics in business aviation. The fly by wire system, a first for Gulfstream, delivers precise handling and reduced pilot workload. The Pratt and Whitney PW800 engine series represents a significant improvement in fuel efficiency over the previous Rolls Royce Tay engines used in the G450, reducing direct operating costs by approximately 20 per cent.
The G500's range connects city pairs such as London to Chicago, Paris to Sao Paulo, or Dubai to London nonstop. Its ability to operate from shorter runways than the larger Gulfstream G550 makes it suitable for a wider range of airports across the United Kingdom and Europe.
